RIhanna's S & M

Rihanna does it again with her song "S & M" included in her Loud album. S & M actually means "sadism and masochism" or "sadomasochism" when you put it together. According to Wikipedia's definition, sadism is the infliction of pain or humiliation upon another person and masochism is the pleasure in receiving them. 

This is a part of the BSDM lifestyle. For those of you who are not familiar, this stands for bondage and discipline (b & d) and sadism and masochism (s & m). In this relationship, one, both, or more people find pleasure or eroticism with the performance of different activities. There is a TOP and a BOTTOM: the top inflicts pain, degradation, or subjugation while the bottom (submissive) submits voluntary to the actions of the top. I think this is where we got Top and Bottom roles in bed. The top is usually the dominant and the bottom is the submissive partner but sometime the top follows instructions from the bottom whenever the bottom expresses the desire for it.  Unlike a gay top-bottom relationship, with BDSM a top can be a bottom or vise versa and this is called "Switch".

BDSM is very visible in porn, or may I say porn (in any form of media) is the most popular and widely distributed means of showing this. You may have watched a lot of gay porn with guys (mostly muscled, haha) wearing leather, ropes, or chains. This is part of bondage. People involved in these activities may also include a variety of props to enhance the act (increase pain or pleasure). If you are interested to participate in BDSM, you should ensure consensus or a pre-play agreement especially when you are doing it with people you do not know very well so that all participants may be kept out of danger. Also make sure that all participants are sane, because doing  the activities would really require psychological strength.
